Summary
Frances Glessner Lee was instrumental in launching the field of forensic science through her endowment of the Department of Legal Medicine at Harvard Medical School in 1932 (the first in the country). In 1950, director John Sturges’ film noir classic Mystery Street, starring Ricardo Montalban, featured the Harvard forensics department in the solution of a diabolical murder and blackmail detective story.
